Special Service Area Commission

The West Humboldt Park Special Service Area # 63 is charged with the responsibility of using this economic development tool to assist in cleaning, beautifying and revitalizing the Chicago Avenue commercial corridor.  Advisory Commissioners typically review budgets and contracts that help to better the retail corridor of Chicago Avenue in West Humboldt Park.

Commission meetings are held on a regular basis and all commission meetings are open to the public.  To ensure that the voices of our community are heard, there is public forum available at the start of every commission meeting.  We post approved minutes from every meeting so everyone can learn about what was discussed.  Currently the SSA Commission meets monthly the 3th Tuesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. at Neighborhood Housing Services, 3601 W Chicago Avenue.

2018 SSA Meetings

Commissioners recommend annually to the City a scope of services, work plan, budget, tax levy, and service provider to manage the SSA. When there is a vacancy on the commission, it is made public and applications are solicited. The Alderman, the community, and the service provider (WHPDC) all gather feedback about the applicants, a nominating committee reviews the applications and suggests a slate of commissions, and the Alderman and mayor approve the slate.  Interested in learning more?   Contact us.
