Salvation Army Brings The Freedom Center to West Humboldt Park

The Salvation Army is relocating The Freedom Center to a 5-acre site at Chicago and Christiana Avenues in West Humboldt Park. The Freedom Center is being relocated from its home of 36 years at Monroe Street and Ashland Avenue on the near west side of Chicago. The new facility will offer a broad variety of educational, recreational, spiritual and social service programs for the entire community. In fact, the new Freedom Center will house three Salvation Army programs that are critical to serving people in need from throughout Chicagoland: The Harbor Light Center, The Mobile Feeding and Outreach Program and The Pathway Forward Program.

The Salvation Army Freedom Center Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10 A.M. at 825 North Christiana Avenue. Join us for this special event, featuring testimonials from people whose lives have been transformed by these Salvation Army programs, as well as performances by The Harbor Light Choir and The Harbor Light Hip-Hop Worship Dance Team. Come discover the many ways in which the Freedom Center will positively impact WHP and the surrounding West Side communities.
