Annual Compassion Parade to End Violence

The Fourth Annual Compassion Parade will be held on Saturday April 18, 2015. The parade will begin at 10:00 AM and all volunteers/participants are encouraged to arrive at 9:45 AM for the parade line-up. The parade will start at Chicago Avenue and Pulaski at Orr Academy High School, 730 N. Pulaski. The parade will end at Chicago Avenue and Kedzie Avenue at Kells Park, 3201 W. Chicago Avenue.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Kells Park

Come out and join the fun for the Annual Kells Park Easter Egg Hunt in West Humboldt Park! This free event will take place on April 3 at 2pm in Kells Park, located at 3201 West Chicago Avenue, at the corner of Chicago and Kedzie Avenues.

West Humboldt Park: PlayStreets Events 2014

The West Humboldt Park Development Council (WHPDC) will organize 3 PlayStreets events in the West Humboldt Park Community on the following dates:

  • Saturday, August 2 – 900 Block of North Springfield
  • Saturday, August 30 – 3600 Block of West Ohio
  • Saturday, September 6 – 700 Block of North Sawyer

PlayStreets 2014 is a citywide initiative, which focuses on providing families and youth with open, safe play spaces to come together and engage in physical activities. This initiative will address obesity and diabetes related health disparities. Events are reoccurring and take place in communities that lack safe outdoor play spaces. Community based organizations, stakeholders and community members are encouraged to work together to organize PlayStreets events during the summer season.

Villa Summer Jam Block Party

On Sunday, June 23, Villa Chicago, 107.5 W.G.C.I. and Alderman Walter Burnett of the 27th Ward presented the Pre Summer Jam Block Party Against Violence: Peace in The Street event at The Kedzie Plaza, 800 North Kedzie Street. Leon Rodgers hosted this free event with other popular radio personalities such as Demi Lobo.

The event broadcasted live and last chance ticket giveaways occurred every fifteen minutes of the hour starting from 2pm to 6pm. Hundreds of people attended this event and enjoyed free food, live music, promotional giveaways and performances by DLOW, The Bop King, Tink, BenOne and others. The block party event was the official pep rally before the W.G.C.I. Summer Jam Concert 2014, located at the United Center featuring performances by the following artists: J. Cole, Trey Songz, R. Kelly, Jennifer Hudson, Yo Gotti, K. Camp, Chicago Bop Kingz and TY$. The concert was held at 7pm at the United Center on June 22, 2014.
