Chicago Avenue Mural Project Ribbon Cutting
27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr at Ribbon Cutting
On Friday November 20, 2015 a Ribbon Cutting was held to celebrate the completion of the Chicago Avenue Mural Project located at 3455 - 3501 W Chicago Avenue (at the corner of St Louis Ave). This project was created to shield vacant lots, beautify the corridor, promote inspiring messages, and create a sense of place. The West Humboldt Park Special Service Area #63 envisioned the project which was brought to fruition by archi-treasures, a community development arts organization.
3501 W Chicago Ave
The artist is Matthew Hoffman who designed the nationally recognized You Are Beautiful campaign. A theme of “Give” and “Get” was the favorite based on community input and the inspiration for the messaging. The Mural is a set of 16 positive phrases in cursive on a blue background.
