Latasha Melton with youth at the Annual Compassion Parade at Kells Park.

West Humboldt Park resident, Latasha Melton, is the organizer of the Annual Compassion Parade. She is also the CEO/Founder of Forever Inspired. The purpose of the parade is for West Humboldt Park residents to spread love, stand up for change, empower youth, take a stand to end senseless shootings and killings and remember our loved ones who we've lost to gun violence.

Melton lost a young cousin to gun violence and would like to see the parade grow annually every April in honor of her late cousin's birthday in April. She hopes that more families who have lost loved ones to gun violence will get involved to unify the community, block by block. If you would like to join the parade, donate and learn more about this event, please visit for more information.
