Turkey Chop Mural at 3522 W Chicago Ave
A mural promoting Turkey Chop Gourmet Grill and the free hot meal site has been installed at 3522 W Chicago Avenue. The 8 ft x 12 ft aluminum panel mural was designed by Matthew Hoffman. Matthew Hoffman is a Chicago-based artist and designer of the You Are Beautiful project, which has shared over one million stickers, installations, and exhibitions with the world. Hoffman's ideas and work have been included in Good, the New York Times Magazine, and Ready Made. He has been published in a number of books by Gestalten, Droog, and Taschen, and was recently featured in a segment on the Oprah Winfrey network.
This mural is the second in a planned series of murals designed to beautify the commercial corridor and to inspire. The first mural was a series of 16 panels with positive phrases located at the corner of Chicago Avenue and St Louis Avenue.
The mural project is part of the West Chicago Avenue Rebuild (WCAR) Plan which envisions a revitalized Chicago Avenue with clusters or nodes of retail development along the corridor, beautification, community activation and events, and a rebranding of the area.
This project was made possible through the support of Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr, Alderman Emma Mitts, the City of Chicago, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), West Humboldt Park Development Council, Neighborhood Housing Services, Citi Foundation & Low Income Investment Fund Partners in Progress Initiative, Chicago Community Loan Fund, and archi-treasures.
