Katrina Thompson, Executive Director

Dear Friends,

On behalf of The West Humboldt Park Development Council Board, I am writing to share exciting news. We are delighted to inform you that we have selected Katrina Thompson as The West Humboldt Park Development Council’s new executive director. Katrina officially join us on August 1, 2016.

We received an overwhelming response to the job opening and feel fortunate to have had such a rich pool of applicants. We are confident that Katrina’s experience, knowledge, and integrity are a great match for the work, staff, and friends of The Council, and together with the youth we will continue to advance our mission in our local communities and spread the vision of a sustainable quality of life for all.

Katrina is a visionary leader who brings to West Humboldt Park Development Council deep experience in civic engagement, youth development, family and business services, and has received numerous commendations for her community involvement. During her tenure as executive director of the Broadview Park District in Broadview, IL., Katrina worked with her Board of Directors to establish a management and organizational structure with a clear governance protocol, steward important fundraising relationships, build strong corporate and community partnerships, create a much-needed healthy food initiative, strengthen programs, and balance community need with strategic growth and resources.

A native of Inglewood, CA., Katrina’s career has spanned the nonprofit and government sectors. She has served in various capacities. She holds a Master’s degree in Training & Development from Roosevelt University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Concordia University in Chicago.

Katrina is honored to have been selected and is eager to get started at The West Humboldt Park Development Council, learning about our various programs and community initiatives and meeting the many people who help make our work so meaningful. As we continue with the busy summer season, she will have an excellent opportunity to see our mission move forward.

I hope you will join with The West Humboldt Park Development Council’s staff and Members of the Board in welcoming Katrina to our organization. We look forward to introducing her to each one of you over the coming months.
